UNDERWAY PROJECT
„DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM INFORMATION SYSTEM IN KLAIPĖDA AND LIEPAJA“
Public institution Klaipėda Tourism and Culture Information Centre together with partners are currently implementing the Phare 2002 CBC Programme project Development of tourism information system in Klaipeda and Liepaja. It is planned to implement the project up to the end of October 2005.
The project aim is to implement the visual tourism information system in Klaipeda City as well as to prepare an analogical paper based project of the visual tourism information system for Liepaja Region.
After the project will be implemented, there will be more than 300 different types of informational signs for visitors and tourists installed in Klaipeda city. Installed informational stands will present in detailed and exciting information for newcomers as well as for the city residents. Installed informational signs will comprise unified informational system including informational columns (illuminative and non illuminative), several types of informational stands, direction references for pedestrians and transport. Tentative placements of informational signs are as follows – City entrances, old City, beaches and recreational zones, first and second ferry, yacht club, etc.
Supposedly implemented unified informational system in Klaipeda city will serve as a standard for the coherent future projects as well as will become a classic model for other cities in the Region. By the same token the other part of the project is dedicated for the preparation of analogical paper based system for Liepaja Region.
